Chicago is a large, old-housing market with a compressed outdoor season. Across the six home-service niches we track it runs about 65,700 searches a month — roughly 2.8× Charlotte — and the mix is different from a Sun Belt metro in a way that changes which pages are worth building first.

Floor refinishing is 6.6% of the tracked demand here, against 1.1% in Phoenix and 1.4% in Orlando (Google Keyword Planner, August 2026). Chicago sits in a cluster with Boston and New York where pre-war housing keeps hardwood work alive as a category of its own. In a newer metro that page is an afterthought; here it earns its own structure.

The seasonal window is narrow and early. Demand peaks in April at 120 against an average month and bottoms in February at 84 — a 1.4× swing, mild by lawn-care standards but concentrated: whatever you intend to rank for in spring has to be ranking by March, because the run-up is short and the trough is deep enough to make a February launch look like a failure.

We don't have a published Chicago case study, and we won't imply local proof we haven't earned. What we bring is the method: cost-per-lead ceilings modelled per service line before spend, weekly per-channel optimization, and reporting in cost per booked job.

The per-niche numbers set the build order. Monthly search demand here runs about 28,300 for garage doors, 15,400 for pest control, 7,300 for landscaping, 7,100 for lawn care, 4,400 for floor refinishing and 3,300 for painting. Competition sits at 44 out of 100 — barely above Charlotte's 42 — so the market is roughly 2.8× larger without being meaningfully harder to compete in. That combination is unusual, and it is the argument for building here rather than deeper into a market you already rank in.

Chicago's Russian-speaking business community runs along the north side and into the northern suburbs — West Rogers Park, Skokie, Buffalo Grove, Wheeling, Northbrook — and plenty of home-service companies come out of it. We work in Russian and English: strategy, the cost-per-lead math and reporting in whichever language the owner would rather argue in, and the marketing itself in English for the customers it needs to reach. It costs nothing to do it this way, and it removes the layer of translation where decisions usually go soft.

What we look at first in Chicago

  • Demand and competition by neighborhood across the metro
  • Cost-per-lead ceilings per service line before any spend
  • Spring-window readiness — what must rank by March
  • Tracking from click to booked job, not to form fill
FAQ

Common questions

Which service should a Chicago contractor start with?

It depends on your margin, not on volume. Garage doors and pest control carry the most search demand here, but floor refinishing is unusually strong for a US metro — 6.6% of tracked demand — so if that's a line you run, it's worth more attention in Chicago than it would be in Phoenix.

Do you have Chicago clients yet?

No published Chicago case study. Our case studies are in Charlotte, Los Angeles and Hawaii. We'd rather say that than claim local proof we don't have.

Do you work with Russian-speaking owners?

Yes — we work in Russian and English (see our Russian-speaking agency services). The strategy and reporting side runs in your language; the marketing itself is built in English, because that is what Chicago homeowners search in.
